These two sided coins are either Die-struck in brass or bronze, or Die Cast in Zinc. These coins are widely referred to as Challenge coins or Commemorative coins. For years they have been very popular with the military, and recently have caught on with civilian government agencies and corporations. Both methods of production produce a high quality coin from detailed steel dies or steel molds. The difference in pricing between both methods is reflected in the different cost of the base metals brass, bronze, and zinc.
